RSU Rector Prof. A. Pētersons puts patient safety at the forefront

Looking ahead to the future when Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) medical and healthcare students will be taking up employment, our university has and always will treat patient safety as a priority. According to a Eurobarometer poll, for the population of Latvia, well-trained medical staff are a fundamental precondition for high-quality healthcare. The patient should be attended to by a well-prepared young specialist who has successfully completed the theoretical subjects and all stages of practical training.

Physiology Olympiad

On March 22 Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Faculty of Medicine Department of Human Physiology and Biochemistry held a Physiology Olympiad for RSU 2nd year medical students. This was the first Physiology Olympiad organised by RSU after a 20 year hiatus and honouring traditions, the topic of the restored Olympiad was – the heart and the coronary system. 

RSU expands its study offer in English

Applications for the next intake at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will be accepted by 1 July this year. Starting with the spring semester of the current academic year, the range of study programmes offered to international students has been supplemented by the Bachelor study programme Nursing and the Master's study programme Public Health with students from seven countries already studying in this course. RSU currently offers six undergraduate and five postgraduate study programmes in English. 

2018 Student Union to celebrate 25th anniversary

The student and resident self-government of the Medical Academy of Latvia, currently known by every student as the RSU Student Union, was founded back in 1993 by a decision made on 20 April in the RSU Senate meeting when Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) still bore the name Medical Academy of Latvia.

On April 9, the Latvian Psychiatric Association, Young Psychiatrist Section and psychiatry residents in cooperation with Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Faculty of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Narcology will organise mental health workshops for RSU medical students aimed at raising awareness and facilitating their understanding of excessive or prolonged stress that is occasionally faced by medical students which can lead to mental health disorders.
