As summer approaches - the season of marathons and other active events - we increasingly think about outdoor activities, especially running. Can everyone run a marathon, and how should one prepare for it? How does running and walking affect heart health? Is it essential to choose the right footwear, and how should one breathe while running?
On 8 May, the Rīga Stradiņs University (RSU) Social Sciences Research Centre (SSRC), in collaboration with the Center for Organization Research and Design (CORD) at Arizona State University, hosted an international workshop dedicated to one of academia’s most pressing challenges — research careers.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Latvia Anatolii Kutsevol visited the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Medical Education Technology Centre (METC) and met with RSU management and students from Ukraine. During his visit, the Ambassador expressed his gratitude to Latvia and RSU for their continued support to Ukraine and stressed the importance of education even in times of war.
Ieva Vanaga will defend her doctoral dissertation on 2 June in an open meeting of the RSU Clinical Medicine doctoral committee. Her dissertation is titled 'Liver Injuries in the Context of SARS-CoV-2 Infection: Facts, Causes and Consequences.'

On 9 May, Prof. Gerald Eliot Wozasek (Department of Orthopaedics, Traumatology and Sports Medicine, Medical University of Vienna, Austria) gave a lecture on limb lengthening in complex fractures with extensive bone loss, as well as on winter sports-related multiligament knee injuries and their treatment challenges, in the Bieziņš Lecture Room at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU).
Jānis Joksts will defend his doctoral dissertation on 27 May in an open meeting of the RSU Legal Sciences doctoral committee. His dissertation is titled 'Transformation of Phenomenon of Raiderism, Problem of its Functionality and Legal Regulation in Latvia.'
