Aim

Improve public health policy planning and implementation, including in the context of the need to ensure epidemiological security, by developing patient-centered sustainable integrated health care services and using research results to improve public health policy.
The main objectives of the project are to reduce the burden of chronic respiratory diseases and their risk factors in the European Union (EU), to improve and promote general health by improving respiratory health, and to reduce premature mortality from chronic respiratory diseases. The main project activities correspond to the priority areas identified in the EU's "Healthier Together" initiative on non-communicable diseases.

Description

Project uniquely combines innovative digital health technologies, improved access to diagnostic tools, and enhanced health literacy efforts to effectively address and manage chronic respiratory diseases. This initiative is grounded in a collaborative approach, engaging a wide array of healthcare stakeholders to promote preventive strategies and reduce the overall burden and mortality rates associated with these diseases. By focusing on the integration of environmental and lifestyle factors, the project aims to offer a holistic solution to chronic respiratory diseases.

The main areas of activity planned for the project are as follows:

  • strengthen and expand the prevention of chronic respiratory diseases, especially chronic obstructive pulmonary disease;
  • promote appropriate vaccination programs;
  • promote early detection of chronic respiratory diseases;
  • strengthen the self-care abilities of people living with chronic respiratory diseases.

The project will include several targeted activities aimed at vulnerable population groups, aiming to reduce health inequalities.

The project involves 16 countries and 38 partners. The project is coordinated by. Hungarian competent authority National Korányi Institute of Pulmonology. The leading partner in Latvia – the Center for Disease Prevention and Control, affiliated partners – Rīga Stradiņš University and Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital.
