Objective

Acquire knowledge and skills in reading, writing, formation and explanation on the usage of terminology in anatomy and clinical terminology; apply the knowledge in professional field.

Prerequisites

Alphabet of the Latvian and English language.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

After a successful completion of the study course students will be able to:
• define the spelling and pronunciation rules in medical terminology;
• identify elements of Greek origin in clinical terminology and explain their meaning;
• name and interpret rules on formation, explanation and usage of anatomical and clinical terminology.

Skills

After a successful completion of the study course students will be able to:
• read and write medical terms correctly;
• identify and classify anatomical and clinical terminology;
• form and explain anatomical and clinical terminology;
• classify and compare medical terms;
• interpret and use Latin phrases.

Competence

After successful completion of the study course students will be able to use anatomical ans clinical terms in the learning and professional environment.
