Objective

To provide a student who has started clinical studies with an in-depth understanding of the functional and morphological aspects of the pathogenesis of gastrointestinal diseases.

Prerequisites

It is required to complete the Pathology and Biopsies course (level A).

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

As a result of completing the study course, the student will know and be able to reasonably explain the nature, causes and risk factors of various gastrointestinal diseases and general pathological processes occurring within them, pathogenesis and expression thereof in clinical processes, laboratory and imaging examinations, possible complications and consequences, outcomes.

Skills

The student will be able to reasonably evaluate the pathogenesis of common gastrointestinal diseases, relate it to the clinical manifestations and diagnostic basis of the diseases, as well as take practical steps to organise, interpret and critically analyse the tissue examinations required in the general practitioner or specialist practice in relation to the overall picture of the disease.

Competence

The obtained competences cover the pathogenesis of diseases of the organs of the gastrointestinal system and serve as a basis for further clinical studies for the acquisition of clinical competences.
