Objective

Introduce students with the basics of microprosthodontics, give the understanding about operative dentistry transition to prosthodontics, increase the knowledge about biomaterials, do the practical exercises in preclinic, introduce students with advantages of digital dentistry, (CAD/CAM) systems and dental photography in clinical practice.

Prerequisites

Dental anatomy and occlusion, dental materials, preclinical course in cariology and prosthodontics, periodontology, endodontology, computer knowledge.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

On successful completion of the course students will know the basics of the microprosthodontics: evaluation of teeth, teeth preparation and preservation for ITR, correct usage of materials and instruments, analogue and digital impressions, CAD/CAM systems in microprosthodontics, cementation of ITR, principles of dental photography.

Skills

Practical ability to restore teeth with inlays, onlays, veneers, partial crowns made from different materials, using analogue and digital workflow, documentation through dental photography.

Competence

Ability to use theoretical and practical knowledge in microprosthodontics in everyday dental practice, offering the patients more therapy modalities using appropriate materials and techniques.
