Objective

To ensure the acquisition and development of theoretical knowledge in accordance with the requirements of the homoeopathy specialty regulation, enabling the doctor to understand the essence of homoeopathic philosophy, develop analytical skills, orientate in theory, read the literature, and apply the acquired knowledge in clinical practice.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.During the time allotted for the study course, the medical resident acquires knowledge and:
• is able to competently explain the background to the emergence of homoeopathy in the history of medicine;
• describes the history of homoeopathic medicine, its basic principles and theoretical concepts;
• is able to competently explain the validation of homoeopathic concepts by modern discoveries in the natural sciences;
• gains an understanding of the different paradigms of medicine, historical development thereof and the impact on society;
• gets acquainted with scientific fields such as nanoscience, particle physics and genetics, thereby understanding the deep dialectic of homoeopathy at an appropriate level;
• is able to clearly define the relevance, importance and value of homoeopathy in medical science, clinical practice and integrated medical treatment in health care.

Skills

1.As a result of completing the study course, the medical resident:
• is able to illustrate principles, concepts or data on the history and philosophy of homoeopathic medicine and provide an overview of the content and meaning thereof;
• is aware of the relevance of the scientific principles of homoeopathy to modern discoveries in the natural sciences;
• understands the role and potential value of homoeopathy;
• is able to apply in practice the knowledge acquired about the history and philosophy of homoeopathic medicine, the basic principles of homoeopathic medicine;
• is able to analytically select relevant information to solve professional problems.

Competence

1.After successful completion of the study course, the medical resident achieves the competence appropriate for a homoeopath:
• understands the concepts of minimum dose, potentiation and potency for further use in clinical practice, and is able to explain them to others and justify them;
• is able to respond competently and diplomatically to criticism in a scientifically reasonable manner;
• is able to work with scientists and experts working in the field of life sciences;
• is able to communicate with experts from outside the medical disciplines.
