Military Medicine Fundamentals for Health Care Specialists (MMDG_002)
About Study Course
Objective
The purpose of the course is to provide for civil Health Care specialities students basic theoretical and practical knowledge of the: - military medicine, - standards of care, - modular approach to medical support, - evacuation principles, - SMARCH algorithmes, - to introduce its tasks in conditions of war, crise and peace, - emphasise the role of the Military medicine in conditions of natural and human-caused crises.
The course will familiarise students with: - criteria for physical and mental expertise and health assessment of military personal being recruited and already serving (Fit for Service), - will introduce to outpatient treatment in Military medical facilities, - principles of rehabilitation.
Prerequisites
Biology, Human Anatomy, Normal Physiology, Emergency Medicine.
Learning outcomes
1.Students will acquire and be able to apply theoretical and practical basic knowledge to MilMed:
• MilMed care standards,
• a modular approach to medical support,
• evacuation principles,
• Tasks of MilMed in the face of war, crisis and peace,
• principles of rehabilitation,
• The role of MilMed in natural and man-made crises.
As a result of the completion of the study course, the student will be able to provide tactical healthcare to the victim professionally and according to the situation at the pre-hospital stage, operating in military and civil military conditions in all three hazard areas.
1.Students will be able to:
• adapt their actions to the requirements of MilMed, in case of their involvement in the tasks of MilMed;
• participate in the creation of a MilMed activity site, in times of war and crisis.
Student understands the principles, phases and uses of TCCC (tactical Combat Casualty care) in the military and Civil military context. Is familiar with the possibilities of medical solutions, medicines and materials, their application in different situations. Has knowledge of COMPONENTS of the MARCH-PAWS algorithm (Massive bleeding. Airways. Breathing. Circulation. Shock. Hypothermia. Head injuries. Eye injuries. Sickening. Antibiotics. Wounds. Burns. Fractures. Observation).
1.Students will be competent:
• use basic knowledge, reasoning and logic when analyzing situations identified by MilMed;
• discuss, explain and constructively promote the achievement of professional objectives and specific tasks, in ensuring the health of the individual;
• work professionally with the MilMed unit, including medical colleagues in a respectful atmosphere, respecting national interests and medical ethical standards, respecting human rights and ensuring epidemiological safety;
• demonstrate and improve yourself as a future medical practitioner and health promoter in the context of MilMed.
