About Study Course
Objective
To provide medical residents with opportunities to acquire and improve theoretical knowledge and practical skills in order to prepare them to successfully pass the certification examination in the specialty of a doctor of physical and rehabilitation medicine, in accordance with laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia.
Learning outcomes
1.Theoretical knowledge of the principles of outpatient rehabilitation, especially in the context of patients whose future treatment is expected to improve their state of health as a result of the professional activity of specialists in the field of rehabilitation medicine.
The medical resident will be able to name, define, classify and describe the most common neurological, internal medicine, musculoskeletal diseases that result in permanent and disabling health impairments in patients.
1.The medical resident will be able to:
assess outpatient rehabilitation patients;
analyse assessment results;
predict late outcomes;
develop an individual rehabilitation plan;
identify risk factors for complications and develop a complication prevention plan;
assess the duration, content of the patient’s rehabilitation and the need for dynamic monitoring;
use the International Classification of Functioning.
1.The medical resident will be able:
to use the acquired knowledge, planning the necessary rehabilitation and dynamic monitoring in the future;
to develop a comprehensive rehabilitation plan, starting from the acute stage of treatment;
to predict late treatment and rehabilitation outcomes;
to develop a plan of preventive measures.
