About Study Course
Objective
To form an understanding and promote the acquisition of basic knowledge about social work with groups, gain skills to lead a group.
Prerequisites
Communication and social psychology, developmental psychology, pedagogy, crisis therapy and social work with cases.
Learning outcomes
Having mastered the course, students will be able to identify types of groups, to understand specifics of social work with groups, basic principles for building the group, will be able to understand the processes and aspects of the potential difficulties in the group progress.
Integrate the acquired theoretical knowledge in practical classes, create a group lesson plan; demonstrate group leadership skills, to select and justify activities to promote the group's activities during the group.
After mastering the study course, students will be able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in social work with groups. Students will be able to recognize the behavior of different group members in the group, understand customer concerns and needs in the group, be able to orientate in group phases, compile a plan of consecutive group sessions, will be able to justify the need to create a group for a specific target group. Will increase the ability to anticipate and flexibly respond to problem situations in the group process, increase their self-understanding and self-experience of interaction with clients in the group. Will be able to select, apply methods and techniques in social work with groups according to the specifics and needs of the target group.
