Objective

To provide knowledge about specifics of sound, sound processing and analysis as well as models of critical perception of sound, and to introduce theories about impact and uses of sound in culture and society.

In other words, everything a media-savvy person (critical and creative) should know about audio communication.
A wide range of topics for 10 lessons (including practical classes and assignments, we usually have 6 lectures and 4 seminars).

Prerequisites

Theories of communication.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students understand specifics of the sound and its perception and know most important theories and approaches in the multifold understanding and analysis of sound in contemporary media environments and public culture.

Skills

1.Students can critically analyse and technically record and process various sound elements.

Competence

1.Students are competent in the sound culture(s) and the specifics of recording.
