Objective

Student media works as a laboratory where students try their hand at creating quality media materials. During the course, the student learns to develop a story from ideas, plan the collection of material, perform processing, work with text, photography and sound, and bring the work to publication. In the first semester, students conduct interviews.

Prerequisites

The course “Introduction to the Studies and Speciality” has been mastered.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students understand the fundamental principles of student media operations and journalistic ethics.
They are familiar with interview genres, the stages of interview preparation, and the basic principles of conducting interviews.
They understand the fundamental principles of creating media texts, photography, and social media content.

Skills

1.Students are able to research a topic and the interviewee, prepare an interview structure, and formulate focused questions.
They are able to conduct an interview, transcribe, edit, and structure the collected material.
They are able to write texts, headlines, and introductions suitable for media publication.
They are able to use photography as part of a media story and prepare materials for publication.

Competence

1.Spēj patstāvīgi izplānot un izveidot kvalitatīvu mediju publikāciju no sākotnējās idejas līdz gatavam materiālam.
Spēj izvēlēties piemērotu veidu intervijas pasniegšanai un pielāgot tās komunikāciju dažādām sociālo mediju platformām.
Spēj kritiski izvērtēt dažādus interviju piemērus un izmantot iegūtās zināšanas sava satura veidošanā.
