About Study Course
Objective
To ensure acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in urogenital radiology according to the requirements of the radiology speciality regulations to prepare doctors for certification in diagnostic radiologist’s speciality according to regulatory documents of the Republic of Latvia.
Learning outcomes
1.• To classify and recognise the normal anatomy of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra, including normal variants.
• To classify and recognise the normal anatomy of the retroperitoneal space, pelvis and genital tract, including normal variants.
• To recognise, formulate and explain indicators of kidney function and radiological indications for the use of contrast material, contraindications in cases of kidney diseases.
• To name, explain and radiologically evaluate the most common pathologies of the urogenital system and their radiological differential diagnostic possibilities.
1.• To describe, evaluate and explain urinary tract report radiographs and their descriptions.
• To differentiate between, interpret and explain intravenous urogram, retrograde pyeloureterography, nephrostogram, ascending urethrogram and micturating cystourethrogram examinations, their indications and contraindications.
• To evaluate, demonstrate and explain the basic principles of transabdominal US of the genitourinary system and descriptions thereof.
• To differentiate between, interpret and explain the basic principles of CT of the retroperitoneal space, urinary tract and pelvis and descriptions thereof under the supervision of the lecturer.
• To recognise, evaluate and explain the basic principles of MRI of the retroperitoneal space, urinary tract and pelvis and descriptions thereof under the supervision of the lecturer.
1.• To evaluate, substantiate and compare urinary tract report radiographs and their descriptions.
• To justify, plan, interpret the basic principles of intravenous urograms, retrograde pyeloureterograms, nephrostograms, ascending urethrograms and micturating cystourethrograms and descriptions thereof.
• To interpret, evaluate and substantiate the principles and descriptions of performing transabdominal US of the urinary tract.
• To interpret, evaluate and compare CT protocols of the retroperitoneal space, urinary tract and pelvis and descriptions thereof under the supervision of the lecturer.
• To justify, plan and interpret MR protocols of the retroperitoneal space, urinary tract and pelvis and descriptions thereof.
