RSU Honorary Doctorate Degree awarded to Professor Črt Marinček from the University of Ljubljana

The inauguration ceremony for the recipient of an RSU Honorary Doctorate Degree – physycian, doctor of medicine and professor at the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Črt Marinček – was held on 19 September in the Great Hall of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). The inauguration took place on the same day as the opening of the First Latvian National Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine.

The professor was conferred an RSU Honorary Doctorate Degree in 2014 for the successful collaboration between the Rīga Stradiņš University and the University of Ljubljana in the fields of science and studies.

Prof. Marinček has supported the integration of Latvian rehabilitation specialists and academic staff from the RSU Faculty of Rehabilitation into the community of leading European specialists in physical and rehabilitation medicine, the European Forum for Research in Rehabilitation, and the European Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine.

Prof. Marinček has provided great support to several physical and rehabilitation physicians in Latvia to acquire the European Rehabilitation Physicians Certificate and helped the RSU Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine Residency Programme accredit the National Rehabilitation Centre “Vaivari” to become a training centre for physical and rehabilitation physicians at the European level. This gives Latvian specialists the opportunity of taking the European certification examinations in physical and rehabilitation medicine.

The professor has also initiated an exchange programme for students of technical orthopaedics between the RSU and the University of Ljubljana.
