Anita Muižniece becomes Director of the RSU Latvian Academy of Sport Education

The RSU Latvian Academy of Sport Education plays a unique role in advancing sport education and science. My goal is to strengthen its position not only in Latvia, but also internationally. This involves closer collaboration with industry leaders, the development of innovative study programmes, and focused efforts to enhance research capacity. Muižniece assumed her new position on 22 April, succeeding Associate Professor Kalvis Ciekurs, who will now serve as Deputy Director and continue contributing to the Academy’s further development in a professional capacity.

Muižniece served as Minister for Education and Science from summer 2021 until the end of 2022, during which time she established herself as a forward-looking reformer and advocate for values that promote societal development. She holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Latvia, which she obtained in 2019.
