Memorandum of Understanding signed with Tashkent Medical Academy

On 13 December Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) was visited by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Latvia Afzal Artikov and by the representatives of Tashkent Medical Academy.

During the visit the representatives of both universities signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation and the foreign delegation met with RSU rector Prof. Jānis Gardovskis, Vice rector for Education Prof. Tatjana Koķe and with the representatives of other academic and administrative structural units.

The rector of Tashkent Medical Academy Laziz N. Tuychiev reminded that the cooperation between both institutions of higher education traces back to 20th century when the academics of the Medical Academy participated in continuing education courses at the predecessor of RSU – Riga Medical Institute. Besides, the representatives of both educational institutions frequently meet at various conferences.

The rectors are convinced that the signed memorandum will serve as a framework instrument for the already existing cooperation and will facilitate implementation of joint initiatives in the area of academic mobility and project implementation.

The foreign guests also participated in the opening of the recently completed new student hostel.
