International Cooperation

The RSU Department of Health Psychology and Paedagogy recently welcomed visiting professors from the Faculty of Nursing of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) as part of the Erasmus+ programme. The visit was not only an opportunity for knowledge exchange, but also for the introduction of innovative health improvement solutions – including a new type of fitness and relaxation exercise called Nirvana.

According to Mg. paed. Maruta Hoferte, a lecturer at the department, the visit offered a wealth of both theoretical insights and practical experience. Assoc. Prof. Vilma Tamulionytė presented strategies for diagnosing and preventing weaknesses in the musculoskeletal system, while Assoc. Prof. Algė Daunoravičienė led practical sessions demonstrating Nirvana – a new type of fitness and health exercise that combines breathing techniques, relaxation, and physical activity. The method is recommended for both preventive and diagnostic purposes, particularly for individuals with musculoskeletal issues. Participants had the opportunity to take part in practical sessions and engage in discussions about integrating these methods into their professional practice.

To ensure a modern and up-to-date study process for young sports specialists, academic staff meetings include regular dialogue on opportunities for cooperation in the preparation and implementation of scientific projects.

The importance of academic and research collaboration was further emphasised during the visit, with Prof. Kristina Berškienė (pictured) providing an overview of LSMU’s strategy, highlighting core research areas and opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.

This exchange of experiences was a significant step towards further collaboration and knowledge transfer between the two universities. As the RSU representatives noted,

meaningful dialogue with colleagues helps create a higher-quality study environment and encourages a more practical approach to healthcare education.
