On Wednesday 12 December, Indra Dedze, Vice-Rector for Science at Ventspils University College, Dace Biteniece, Acting Director of Smart Technology Research Centre, scientists Vairis Caune and Gundars Bergmanis-Korāts, and student representatives of Ventspils University College visited Rīga Stradiņš University. 

During the meeting with representatives of Ventspils University College, cooperation opportunities were discussed regarding development of joint research directions. Joining the competences of both institutions, the initial discussions have resulted in the identifying of cooperation topics which are related to the research of electromagnetic fields and brain waves and the treatment of epilepsy, computer vision solutions in medicine, research and development of falls sensors, as well as the translation of medical, pharmaceutical and other applied texts.

The meeting was followed by a visit of scientific structural units at the Science Hub Kleisti, learning about the practical side of the research process.

RSU was represented by the Vice-Rector for Health Studies, Prof Guntis Bahs, the Vice-Rector for Science Agrita Kiopa, the Head of the Department of Human Physiology and Biochemistry, Professor Pēteris Tretjakovs, the Head of the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Professor Andrejs Millers, the Dean of the Faculty of Rehabilitation, Professor Signe Tomsone, the Head of the Department of Physics Jevgenijs Proskurins, leading researcher of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Environmental Health Žanna Martinsone, educationalist at the Laboratory of Hygiene and Occupational Diseases Ilona Pavlovska, the Head of ITD IT Infrastructure Management Unit Aivars Muravjovs, the Director of the RSU Language Centre Dace Žibala, the Head of the Technology Transfer Office Linda Gabrusenoka and project manager Justīne Vīķe.
