Although it is not currently possible to train indoors, athletes from various Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Sports Club teams are still continuing their training. Sports Club trainers have developed individual training plans and continue to train outdoors regardless of the weather.

Athletes are looking forward to being able to train indoors again and to participate in championships, but are keeping up with their training in the meantime.

Students are actively participating in the online workouts offered by Sports Club trainers Daina Lazdeniece-Auniņa and Mārtiņš Markovs via the following RSU Sports Club Facebook groups.

It has been a pleasure to see how responsive and motivated students are, and even more so, to see RSU staff attend the online workouts.

Markovs even participated in several online competitions on 19 December together with six staff members and students from RSU. The competitors from RSU competed in powerlifting and bench press both in an inter-university competition, as well as a national competition. RSU won a total of eleven medals and seven cups in the competition, which took place in the Riga Technical University gym.

The RSU Sports Club is looking forward to being able to welcome students and athletes in person again soon. The RSU gym has been renovated, and new exercise machines have been purchased during the lockdown.

Take care of yourselves, be active, breathe fresh air, and see you soon!
