To celebrate the success of its students in sports, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) invited over 100 student-athletes, international students from Sweden, Germany and Finland among them, and their coaches to a symbolic post-season event on 1 June. As recognised by RSU Rector Jānis Gardovskis, RSU professional achievements in sports have rapidly improved and the number of our students taking the podium in national and international competitions is constantly growing.

During the evening letters of achievement for remarkable performance at the Lattelecom Rīga Marathon, Latvian XXVII Universiade and SELL Student Games were presented to 17 individual athletes: Patricia Jacqueline Desiree Heidemann (judo), Sofija Vostrecova (powerlifting), Aileen Heister and Lisa Hemmersbach (table tennis, doubles), Johanna Johanna Tammel and Ieva Pikse (weightlifting), Anna Paula Auziņa, Dana Vasiļenko, Beatrise Upeniece, Anna Tuulia Olkkonen and Jaakko Nieminen (track and field), Dārta Eleonora Dakse, Simona Laura Kozlovska, Laura Slavinska, Viktorija Paegle, Diāna Ņikitina, Katarina Sofia Zdolsek (swimming).

In team sports recognition awards were presented to seven RSU teams with remarkable achievements in the past academic year: RSU aesthetic group gymnastics team (coach: Maruta Hoferte), men's football team RSU/BAO Dobele (coach: Aleksandrs Radčenko), men's floorball team RSU/Babīte (coach: Reinis Rugājs), women's volleyball team RSU/MVS (coach: Inguna Minusa), men's basketball team RSU and women's basketball team RSU (coach: Aivars Vīnbergs) as well as women's basketball team RSU-2 (coach: Daina Lazdeniece-Auniņa).
