RSU Connects Latvian Researchers with European Translational Medicine Network
Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), as the coordinator of the Latvian EATRIS National node, plans to strategically strengthen cooperation with other European Research Infrastructures (ERICs) and ESFRI Roadmap initiatives within the framework of the Project 1.1.1.5 Participation of RSU in the Horizon Europe Programme, building on the established collaboration of EATRIS-ERIC at the European level.
Within the Project, the Latvian EATRIS National node plans to develop closer cooperation with other ERIC National node including BBMRI-ERIC, ELIXIR and OpenScreen. The aim of this cooperation is to expand Latvian researchers’ access to European-scale research resources, expertise and services in the field of translational medicine.
The planned collaboration includes regular information exchange among ERIC National node, joint organisation of thematic events and informational activities, as well as targeted consultations for Latvian researchers on access to research infrastructure services and participation in international research projects.
Strengthened cooperation with BBMRI-ERIC is intended to improve access to biological samples and associated data, which are essential for biomarker development and the advancement of personalised medicine. Collaboration with ELIXIR will focus on biomedical data management, interoperability and the implementation of FAIR principles, while cooperation with OpenScreen will support early-stage drug discovery through access to high-throughput screening technologies.
By leading the Latvian EATRIS National node, RSU fulfils a coordinating and connecting role between the Latvian research community and European research infrastructures, promoting knowledge transfer, interinstitutional collaboration and innovation in healthcare and biomedical research.
