On 30 and 31 August this year, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will be hosting Future States, a two-day conference organised by social anthropologists.

Members of the European Association of Social Anthropologists (EASA) network on Anthropologies of the State in cooperation with RSU, the Latvian Association of Anthropologists, and researchers from the FLPP project (Re)moving Ties are organising a two-day anthropological conference on the state. The conference will feature presentations by nearly thirty social anthropologists from European and US universities.

On 31 August, the second day of the conference, the central event will be a presentation by Professor Rebecca Bryant of Utrecht University on The Unbecoming State: Thinking Sovereignty through the Governance of Time. The Professor’s presentation is a public event that will take place at Dzirciema iela 16, RSU Hippocrates Lecture Theatre. Live streaming will also be provided.
