The RSU Library Summer School on Systematic Reviews will bring together librarians and researchers from the Baltic States. Introducing the speakers
From July 29th to August 1st, the Library of Riga Stradins University in collaboration with the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin Medical Library (Germany) and Baltic partners is organising the "Baltic-German Summer School on Systematic Reviews".
"The Baltic-German Summer School on Systematic Reviews" aims to provide an opportunity to gain knowledge from experienced experts in the field and to adapt internationally recognised methods to the local context. The Summer School offers a balance between theory and practice - lectures cover the basics of systematic reviews, while practical sessions allow participants to build their own systematic review step by step, applying the knowledge gained in real work processes.

About the guest lecturers
Dr. Corinna Dressler received an MSc in Health Psychology from the Universiteit Leiden in 2007 and a PhD in Health Sciences from the University of York in 2013. She is an expert in methods for health services research, specifically evidence synthesis and the development of evidence-based clinical guidelines. Prior to joining the Charité Medical Library, she worked at the Division of Evidence-Based Medicine at the Department of Dermatology, Charité. Corinna Dressler was previously employed as a researcher in various multidisciplinary teams in the UK, Canada and Germany. For over 10 years, her focus has been on evidence synthesis and since 2022, she has been the Head of Information Literacy Education / Systematic Reviews at the Medical Library Charité- Universitätsmedizin Berlin.

Meghan Forrest is an information specialist at the Medical Library at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Concurrent to her work in health literacy education at the Medical Library, she is a research associate the Institute of Public Health – as well as a PhD student in the Health Data Sciences PhD Program – at the Charité. Her research foci are on evidence synthesis research methodology, and observational research methodology in the field of stroke. She received an MSc in Epidemiology from the Charité in 2023. Prior to her time in Berlin, Meghan worked as an intensive care unit nurse at the University of Michigan.

Irma Klerings is an information specialist at the University for Continuing Education Krems, where she works for the Department for Evidence-based Medicine and Evaluation, Cochrane Austria, and JBI Austria. Her roles include designing systematic searches for a wide variety of evidence syntheses (systematic reviews, rapid reviews, qualitative evidence syntheses, etc.), information retrieval methods research, and teaching literature search skills. Her academic background is media and communication studies.

Paria Aria is an Assistant Professor at Texas Woman’s University, where she teaches courses in the Health Sciences Librarianship track and mentors students pursuing careers in medical and academic librarianship. Before joining the faculty at Texas Woman’s University, Paria held various roles in an academic library, where she supported students and faculty with literature reviews and systematic reviews, as well as providing instructional sessions on information literacy, research strategies, and library services. She holds a Ph.D. in Information Science.

Paula Milewska is specializing in strategic support for research institutions. With over 18 years of experience in the academic and government sectors, her expertise areas include scientific information, academic publishing, digital transformation in academia, and research performance evaluation. She leverages her skills and experience to provide practical support to research institutions, aiding them in achieving better research outcomes and strategic development. Paula joined Elsevier in 2019 as a freelance trainer and has been serving as a Customer Consultant since 2021, supporting universities in Central and Eastern Europe. Starting in 2024, she holds the position of Customer Success Manager, focusing on strategic support for research institutions in the region. Paula holds a Master's degree in Information Science and Library Sciences from the University of Lodz.

Beata Fidzińska is an experienced specialist in academic publishing and research solutions, with over 20 years’ experience supporting libraries and research institutions across Central and Eastern Europe. As Life Science Solutions Account Manager at Elsevier, she helps universities and medical schools implement and make the most of advanced tools such as Embase, Reaxys, and EmBiology. Beata holds a Master’s degree in Pedagogy, specialising in Andragogy (adult education), from the University of Wrocław. Her academic background gives her a deep understanding of the needs of adult learners and information professionals, enabling her to work effectively with librarians, researchers, and academic staff to deliver tailored solutions that support lifelong learning and evidence-based practice.
