International Cooperation

From 5 to 7 October, RSU Chancellor Toms Baumanis and Vice-Rector for Studies Prof. Haralds Plaudis visited Germany, where they met with Lower Saxony Minister for Science and Culture Falko Mohrs and the management of Elbe Klinikum Stade, one of Germany’s leading hospitals.

During the visit, the parties discussed opportunities to deepen cooperation with the hospital, which has hosted the RSU Clinical Study Base since 2022, as well as to develop a broader partnership with Lower Saxony in the fields of medical education and healthcare. RSU representatives invited the Lower Saxony Minister for Science and Culture to visit RSU.

During the meeting, particular attention was paid to sustainable solutions for physician training, the development of clinical training and the strengthening of international cooperation. Potential models for further cooperation were also discussed that would facilitate student mobility, expand opportunities to gain clinical experience and strengthen the link between the needs of medical education and the healthcare system.

Such cooperation is important to both parties. For Lower Saxony, it provides opportunities to develop a sustainable approach to training healthcare professionals, while for RSU, it allows the university to expand its already established and successful cooperation in Germany, strengthen its international role in medical education and create additional opportunities for students to gain international experience during their studies and clinical practice.
