RSU students explore study and research opportunities in Germany
On 16 October, representatives of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Information Centre in Riga visited Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) to introduce students and academic staff to study, research and scholarship opportunities in Germany.
During the session, participants learned about DAAD scholarship programmes available to students, graduates and researchers at different stages of their academic careers. The presentation covered opportunities to attend German language and culture summer courses, pursue master's degrees at German universities and obtain funding for research projects.
The DAAD representatives also highlighted opportunities to study in English. German universities offer a wide range of master's degree programmes taught entirely in English, meaning that German language proficiency is not always a requirement for admission.
Students were also introduced to current DAAD scholarship calls. Applications for scholarships to attend university summer courses in Germany in 2027 are open until 30 October 2026. The programme offers participants an opportunity to improve their German language skills, experience German culture and academic life, and receive financial support for attending the courses. Applicants are required to have at least A2-level German language proficiency.

The Head of the DAAD Information Centre for the Baltic States appreciates RSU's openness to cooperation and says she is always pleased to return to the university to meet students and share information about study and research opportunities in Germany.
Students and researchers interested in exploring study or research opportunities in Germany are encouraged to contact the DAAD Information Centre in Riga. The centre provides free consultations for students and researchers from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, offering guidance on study opportunities, scholarships and application procedures.
