RSU/Livonia women’s rugby team invites new players to join

On 5 September, the second stage of the Latvian Rugby Sevens Championship begins, during which the RSU/Livonia women’s rugby team will continue their bid to achieve the best possible results in the championship. 

The match will take place on 5 September at 11:00 at the Riga Technical College Stadium, located at 16 Brasas iela in Riga. 

Season in full swing 

The rugby season is in full swing – alongside the Latvian Championship, the players are also taking part in beach rugby tournaments. A large number of players from the RSU/Livonia team represent the Latvian women’s rugby sevens team. 

The RSU/Livonia rugby team brings together various members of the Rīga Stradiņš University community, including current students, graduates and staff. 

This year, team player Patrīcija Paula Mūrniece graduated from the RSU Faculty of Medicine, while Evija Kralliša, Alvīne Bruņiniece, Līva Tauriņa, Estere Tirzmale, Agnese Patrīcija Miķelsone and Lotanna Okaire are currently combining their studies at RSU with rugby. 

The team’s physiotherapists, RSU lecturers Līna Garā and Līga Zenfa, also play a significant role within the team, while Evija Kralliša, alongside her playing duties, is also the manager of the RSU/Livonia women’s team.

International experience in Copenhagen 

This summer, the team also put their skills to the test in an international tournament. On 8 and 9 August, RSU/Livonia took part in the international Copenhagen 7s tournament in Denmark, which featured teams from various countries around the world. Competing against 28 teams, the RSU/Livonia rugby players gained valuable international match experience and finished in 11th place. 

New players are invited to join the team 

RSU/Livonia is also open to new players. RSU students, exchange programme and Erasmus+ participants, as well as international students, are all welcome to join the team.
