Dr. Agrita Kiopa is Vice-Rector for Science. Her responsibilities include development of Rīga Stradiņš University as an internationally recognised research institution, and supervision of doctoral education.

Before joining the Rector’s team, she was a Deputy State Secretary and Director of the Higher Education, Science and Innovation Department at the Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia. She was leading processes of designing and implementing structural reforms of research and innovation system in Latvia. These reforms include redesign of core institutions of higher education and science – rules for institutional and competitive research funding, financing and governance of higher education, integration of higher education and research, consolidation of publicly funded research institutes. Her professional and research interests include organization theory and science human capital. 

Dr. Agrita Kiopa holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from Georgia Institute of Technology.
