Requirements

  • Internationally recognised scientific activity and impact in the professional field
  • Internationally recognised research activities (scientific publications published in international peer-reviewed journals in the last 5 years)
  • At least 5 years of experience in academic work and managerial experience
  • Doctoral degree
  • Valid expert status with the Latvian Council of Science
  • Professional experience in the field
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations governing higher education and scientific activities 
  • High level digital skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Latvian and English at least at B2 level (according to Europass self-assessment grid)
  • Ability to demonstrate and implement strategic thinking and introduce change, in line with RSU Development Strategy
  • Achieve measurable results, in accordance with the directions defined by RSU Development Strategy and the Health direction
  • Highly developed communication skills
     

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the development and lead the implementation of the strategic area of specialisation represented by the University of Science within the Faculty
  • Plan and control the budget and management of the Faculty and the use of resources
  • Pursue excellence in scientific activity by ensuring the creation, accumulation and dissemination of knowledge
  • Develop and ensure international cooperation in research and the implementation of study programmes
  • Develop and ensure cooperation at national and international level in industry
  • Ensure the implementation of innovations through the development of research sectors in priority areas
  • Ensure interdisciplinarity in research-based studies
  • Ensure modern approaches to academic work at the Faculty, including simulations and digitisation of processes
  • Adhere to the highest standards and principles of academic integrity
  • Manage the Faculty's internal and external communication in cooperation with other RSU departments
  • Monitor the quality, sustainability and competitiveness of the study programmes implemented by the Faculty
  • Take care of the retention of qualified academic and research staff, promote and ensure their growth and renewal at the Faculty
