On 20 January 2026, the Rector of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), Prof. Aigars Pētersons, and the President of the Senate, Prof. Jānis Gardovskis, congratulated Prof. Romans Lācis, Head of the Advisory Board of the Cardiac Surgery Centre at Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital (PSCUS) and professor at RSU, on his 80th birthday.

In February 2026, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) welcomed 262 new international students from 31 countries as part of the February intake. Following a competitive admissions cycle that attracted 621 applicants from 80 countries, students began their studies in Medicine (230 students) and Dentistry (32 students).

Demand for RSU’s programmes remains strong, with 2.28 applicants per study place in Medicine and 3.10 applicants per place in Dentistry, reflecting the university’s growing international reputation.

Yesterday, 27 January, the Rector of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), Prof. Aigars Pētersons, formally expressed his gratitude to the Chair of the Senate, Prof. Dr habil. med. Jānis Gardovskis, and to the Head of the Department of Orthopaedics at the RSU Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Andris Jumtiņš, for their high-quality and responsible work in representing RSU’s interests on hospital boards.
