The Prof. Ilmārs Lazovskis' Medical Foundation Scholarships have been awarded by the Latvian Medical and Dental Association (LĀZA) for the 18th consecutive year. These scholarships aim to assist and encourage the top medical students in their journey towards becoming medical doctors. This year, the scholarships amounted to a total of USD 6,000 and several senior students from Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) were among the recipients.

On 3-5 May, the international meeting of the SHARE coordinators took place in Iași, Romania. SHARE Latvia Research Coordinator Aija Bukova-Žideļūna and SHARE Latvia Data Coordinator Diāna Baltmane represented Latvia at the event.
Jekaterina Kozačenko, Senior Laboratory Assistant at the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Institute of Public Health, received recognition for the best presentation at the 84th all-Ukrainian scientific medical students’ and young scientists' congress Medicine of the ХХІ Century organised by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, which took place on 13-14 April this year.
The European Congress of Ultrasonography EUROSON 2023 will take place on 25-27 May at the ATTA Centre in Riga. The Ultrasound Congress for Students (STUC) will be taking place at the same time. This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn the basics of ultrasonography in practical sessions led by experts in the field. Each session will include a short lecture on a specific topic by an experienced lecturer, as well as practical work with the ultrasonography equipment.

Western societies are currently experiencing a trend of rapid ageing. Recognising the risk factors associated with ageing and the need for rapid action, the period 2021-2030 has been declared the Decade of Healthy Ageing.
The study and transformation of lifestyles is seen as one approach to delaying or even preventing neurodegenerative diseases, especially dementia, highlighting the importance of so-called cognitive reserves in healthy cognitive ageing.
The traditional European Night of Museums took place on Saturday, 13 May. Although the warm weather lured many out of the city and other important events took place that night, there was still a significant amount of people who braved the hour-long queue that stretched along Citadeles iela to the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Anatomy Museum. visit
