After studying and working in Sweden for many years, Dr. med. Ieva Reine has decided to return home to Latvia. Being one of the most promising psychology students, Reine was offered the opportunity to continue her studies and research at the Umeå University in northern Sweden more than 20 years ago. ‘Although I started my studies in Latvia, I obtained all my higher education documents in the field of public health and psychology at the Umeå University,’ Reine explains. ‘I also have a PhD in public health.’
Gunta Lazdāne, Professor at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Faculty of Medicine of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), and the Founder of the Institute of Public Health, has spent 15 years of her varied and eventful career working at the World Health Organisation (WHO) outside Latvia. In recognition of her contribution, Prof. Lazdāne was awarded the Order of the Three Stars on 20 April 2021.
Today, on 7 May, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) is organising collective vaccination against COVID-19 for its students and staff. More than 1,000 employees, as well as local and international students, are expected to receive their first vaccine today.

Ilze Maldupa is an Assistant Professor and Researcher at the Faculty of Dentistry at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). She dreamed about medicine since kindergarten. While she initially wanted to work with children, Maldupa switched her focus to Dentistry in the 7th grade.
The Anatomy Museum is one of the Rīga Stradiņš University’s (RSU) most ambitious projects in recent years – a historic building has been reconstructed, a unique museum collection has been preserved and restored, and a new modern, interactive and engaging exhibition has been created. The plans for the museum's opening in autumn 2020 had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the museum has used this time to continue to work, develop and to prepare to welcome visitors in person.
