The Annual Award in Medicine ceremony took place for the 12th time this year. On Saturday, 12 March, a record number of 22 awards were presented. Arvīds Irmejs won Person of the Year in Medicine 2021. He is the Head of the Breast Unit at Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital (PSCUH), an oncologist and breast surgeon, an Associate Professor at the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Department of Surgery and a leading researcher at the Institute of Oncology.
Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) has been providing both emotional and financial support to Ukrainian students since the very first day of the war: stipends, tuition fee discounts, and accommodation in the University’s student hostels. Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) is organising the practical seminar on surgical operation techniques “Insight into modern cardiac surgery” on 24 March. The seminar, which takes place as part of the International Student Conference (ISC2022), will give medical students at RSU the opportunity to learn about current issues in the field under the guidance of specialists from the Centre of Cardiac Surgery at Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital (PSCUH).
