An award ceremony celebrating the creators behind the most important scientific achievements in 2019 was held in the Latvian Academy of Sciences (LAS) on 6 February. Among them were six researchers from RSU who received certificates of acknowledgement for their research into and introduction of an innovative bone replacement material to be used in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Film fans are welcome to attend the film lecture series Cinema Lab that will take place on four Mondays in March and April. The films in the series will illuminate American politics, the behind the scenes of the fashion industry and the media environment. The first four Cinema Lab screenings and lectures were held in Autumn 2019 with the support of the US Embassy in Latvia and the Kinoskola foundation. They were open to students and academic staff from various universities, as well as the wider public.

The Summer International Radiology Course 2020 (SIRC20) will be held in Poznań, Poland, 19-25 July 2020.
SIRC20 is a 7-day workshop that will cover the theoretical and practical aspects of multidisciplinary radiology - X-ray, USG, CT, MRI, and interventional radiology. The course will be taught in English by experienced clinicians and radiologists and will focus on the interpretation of diagnostic images and practical handling of radiology equipment.
Several independent experts visited Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) on 6 February as part of the licensing process of the new International Business and Start-up Entrepreneurship study programme. Mārtiņš Upmacis, Senior Expert at the Academic Information Centre, coordinated the work of the panel of experts. The panel included representatives from the Latvian Employers’ Confederation and the Student Union of Latvia.

On 18 November 2019, Inga Millere, the Dean of the Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and a Professor of the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, was awarded the Cross of Recognition for her outstanding and significant contribution to the development of nursing education and research.
Hannah Katharina Schöberl is a 6th-year medical student at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and was recently elected President of the International Student Association (ISA) taking up her new position on 1 January 2020. She has been with ISA since the beginning of 2019 when she was elected Head of Academic Affairs. Prior to her involvement with ISA, Hannah was on the board of the German Student Association (Deutsche Studenten im Ausland, DSiA).
