Toms Pulmanis will defend his doctoral dissertation on 19 November at 13:00 in an open meeting of the Medicine Degree Committee in the Hippocrates Auditorium (16 Dzirciema Iela). Pulmanis' dissertation is titled 'Factors associated with suicidal behaviour in adolescents in Latvia'.

The first orthopaedics course at the RSU Clinical Training Centre at the Ziv Medical Centre, Israel took place on 2 -23 September. Seven RSU students from Israel took part in the course.
On 27 September, a graduation ceremony for medical residents from the Faculty of Continuing Education was held in the Great Hall of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). 133 residents graduated from RSU this year which is an increase of 10 students compared to the previous year. The young physicians studied in both government-funded and self-paid study positions and represent 47 specialities and sub-specialities.
The Rīga Stradiņš University International Student Association (RSU ISA) was founded in 2011 by a group of international students and is this year celebrating its 8th anniversary. As a part of the anniversary celebrations RSU ISA is organising an entire Anniversary Week, 14–18 October 2019. This anniversary is dedicated to the extraordinary contribution that the association’s members and supporters have made, and to those who have committed themselves to improving student life for the past eight years.
The construction of a pedestrian bridge and the landscaping works that have been carried in the green area between the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) main building and the student hostel have brought a two-year project to a close. This area is now a well-tended and pleasant place of respite for university students and staff, as well as local residents to enjoy. Students have named this area Inspiration Park.

At the end of September, third-year students of the International Marketing and Advertising Bachelor’s study programme at the Department of International Business and Economics of the Faculty of European Studies visited the company Madara Cosmetics.
Rīga Stradiņš University is participating in the COST programme's project 'Cancer Nanomedicine – from the bench to the bedside' (Nr. CA17140). The 1st conference will take place between 15–17 October.
On 27 September 2019 visitors had the opportunity to get acquainted with different fields of science as well as themselves by exploring their own body structure or testing the limits of their physical strength during European Researchers’ Night at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). This year’s theme was Science of the Future and the events took place at the Kleisti Science Hub (5 Rātsupītes Iela) and at the Medical Education Technology Centre (26a Anniņmuižas Bulvāris).
Cinema Lab continues on April 20 with a screening of Good Night, and Good Luck directed by George Clooney.
