George Drugas from the United States and Amulya Saxena from the United Kingdom will be visiting the Department of Paediatric Surgery at the RSU Faculty of Medicine from 10-12 February. During their visit they will give three lectures and perform demonstrations.

On 10 February 8.30 - 9.30 George Drugas will give a lecture on Patient Safety in Pediatric Surgery in the Ebel Auditorium on the 5th floor of the Children's Clinical University Hospital.

Innovative implantable biomaterials will be developed at the Baltic Biomaterial Centre for Excellence co-founded by RSU

‘This centre is a milestone for our scientific community, and I am personally proud of Latvian researchers who have demonstrated their scientific excellence and strong potential for cooperation on this scale,’ the President of Latvia, Egils Levits stated at the opening of the Baltic Biomaterials Centre of Excellence (BBCE).

The BBCE project was solemnly opened on 29 January at the Faculty of Materials Science and Applied Chemistry of Riga Technical University (RTU).

RSU Receives Funding to Develop Six New Study Programmes

Six new study programmes in English will be developed at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) by 2023. On 24 April 2019 RSU signed an agreement with the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (CFLA) about implementing the project ‘Reducing study programme fragmentation and promoting the internationalisation of studies at Rīga Stradiņš University’ (project No. 8.2.1.0/18/A/014).

Irina Mariotti comes from Bolzano in northern Italy. She started studying at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) in February 2016.

Had you been to Latvia before you came to RSU?

I came to visit a friend who was studying here about 6 years ago. I was traveling in Europe with my family and we stayed in Latvia for three days visiting the countryside and the Old Town. I really liked Riga, actually. This is why when I was admitted to RSU, I already knew where I was coming to.
