RSU to extend clinical study centre at Riga East University Hospital

Strengthening ties between cooperation partners Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and Rīga East University Hospital on Thursday 17 May RSU Rector Prof. Aigars Pētersons, Vice-Rector for Health Studies Prof. Guntis Bahs and Vice-Rector for Administration and Development Toms Baumanis, together with the new chairman of the board of the hospital, Imants Paeglītis and board member Kaspars Plūme visited the RSU clinical study centre.

RSU Asian Society is organising the Vesak Week which is an event celebrated in South and South East Asia. All the buddhists around the world celebrate the birth, enlightenment and death of Gautama Buddha!

This year, the Month of Vesak started on 29th of April and ends on 29th of May! During this time, people get involved with charity work, meditation and making Vesak lanterns.

Team RSU ready for Lattelecom Riga Marathon

In recent years an active lifestyle – jogging in particular – have been gaining popularity and the number of running enthusiasts at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) increases with every year. In the traditional Lattelecom Riga Marathon, to be held this Sunday 20 May, RSU will be represented by a team of 258 runners, outpacing last year’s participation rate. In terms of the number of participants, RSU is among the ten largest local teams, whereas in terms of international coverage, with 16 countries represented, our team is taking the lead. 

Outstanding Latvian-born neuropathologist, Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Consultant Neuropathologist, UCL Institute of Neurology, Zane Jaunmuktāne will be visiting Rīga Stradiņš University on 26 May.

Dr. Z. Jaunmuktāne will give a guest lecture titled "Brain tumour classification with conventional and advanced molecular technologies".

The lecture is part of the 11th Informal Meeting of Baltic Association of Neuropathologists (BAN). 

After the lecture the lecturer will answer questions and take part in a discussion.

Latvian poet and public activist Imants Ziedonis would be celebrating his 85th birthday this May. Marking the occasion on 3 May, at the fifth Time for Ziedonis awards ceremony, held in the Liepāja Concert Hall Lielais dzintars, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) professor Maija Dambrova received the award in the science category “The Attack of the Butterflies” which is presented to science personalities – to those shining the light for others.
