RSU sports complex at 3 Cigoriņu iela

The reconstruction of the RSU sports complex at 3 Cigoriņu iela in Riga will be completed in the summer of 2026.

The aim of the project is to create a modern sports infrastructure that supports both students’ physical activities as well as scientific research in the field of public health. The existing sports complex is both technically and functionally outdated and no longer meets the university’s needs. As part of the project, the current building will be renovated and expanded with facilities adapted for administrative functions, sports training, and research.

The new RSU sports complex will offer a wide and diverse range of facilities:

  • A sports hall built to international standards – FIBA 2 basketball court and FIVB CEV volleyball court;
  • Gym equipped with zones for free weights, strength training, cardio activities, and functional exercises;
  • Scientific research laboratory for human body assessments, data collection and testing;
  • Fitness rooms for TRX training, as well as separate rooms for pilates and yoga;
  • Multifunctional sports hall adaptable for various sports and group activities;
  • First aid point and physiotherapy room to support health care services;
  • Administrative offices for sports centre management and service coordination;
  • Convenient bathrooms, changing rooms, and lockers;
  • Recreational areas for rest and social interaction between sessions.

Accessibility

Special attention has been given to inclusive design, ensuring safe and convenient access for all users.

Bathrooms and showers will include specially adapted plumbing solutions for individuals with mobility impairments. Entrance thresholds, pedestrian walkways, connections to driveways, and sports fields have been designed in accordance with universal design principles and accessibility standards. The building will feature an elevator providing access to all floors. Parking areas for bicycles, e-scooters, and e-motorbikes have been redesigned to ensure convenient use for diverse user groups.
