Objective

To provide basic knowledge on demography processes and family policy, to develop understanding on interrelations between demographic and socioeconomic processes.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

• Able to explain the basic terms of demographic and family policy;
• able to explain demographic processes, factors influencing family policy;
• to assess the role of demographic policy in the development of region/country;
• to name and characterise the main directions of family policy;
• to compare demographic processes and family policy in various regions/countries.

Skills

• Able to gather and analyse basic demography and family policy data;
• able to employ appropriate method for the assessment of demographic and family processes;
• able to independently evaluate the demographic and family processes;
• to employ precise terminology of demography an family policy, when describing and characterising demographic processes and family policy;
• to present the results of independent work on demographic policy and family policy.

Competence

• Employs the knowledge in the independent work on demographic situation and family policy in a region/country;
• able to differentiate appropriate use of demography coefficients;
• interprete data on demographic development and family policy;
• to elaborate a demography report, using the demography coefficients;
• able to argument on the family policy activities in accordance to needs;
• to assess various aspects of family policy.
