Objective

Acquire knowledge of the necessity of physical activity; create positive motivation and interest in physical activity. Create a notion of the diverse effects of physical exercises on the body. Acquaint students with sets of physical exercises, the sequence of their use for the development of special physical properties, improving the general physical training of students.
Tasks:
1. Build up the strength; Improve general and special physical stamina;
2. Develop movement coordination and improve agility;
3. Develop agility and speed;
4. Strengthen the willpower to operate with a maximum efficiency;
5. Develop the capacity to focus attention and effort;
6. Develop ability to act in conditions of high physical load;
7. Develop ability and skills to continuously improve their physical fitness.

Prerequisites

Prior knowledge is not necessary.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Of physical fitness that promotes students’ physical and sports development in accordance with the goals set in the Sports Law. Of the specific nature of the police officer’s work, namely, the sport activities are organised in complicated, artificially degraded conditions in order to put them on the same level as the real performance of service duties; Of physical training (sports) methods: the most characteristic components are modelled, namely, the physical load as strength, speed, agility, stamina and flexibility.

Skills

Ability to enhance a student’s physical development in general; the ability to help a student to adapt to a new social environment based on sports competitions as a basic method; the ability to perceive and evaluate individual physical fitness of each cadet (student), contributing to the creation of a positive “I” image; the ability to set goals and plan their attainment; the ability to obtain, analyse and select information and use it.

Competence

Motivated to further improve their physical fitness. Able to train independently, manage their time, set goals, select physical training methods and tools, analyse mistakes and prevent them; able to perform physical training tasks in their profession individually or working in a team.
