Objective

The purpose and specifics of the internship – to combine students' theoretical knowledge with latest trends in the provision of health sector and health care institutions.

Prerequisites

Professional practice refers to students who, after the 1st year of study, are competent to implement a certain development project in companies or organizations in the healthcare sector operating in Latvia or abroad. The task of the internship is to link the knowledge and skills acquired within the study program with the real situation in companies and organizations, as well as to improve communication and social skills.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Students will obtain knowledge on:
• validation of theoretical knowledge in the field of healthcare
• tasks related to the goal of the internship
• the organization's activities in the field
• and practical skills in performing internship tasks

Skills

The student acquires skills:
• application of theoretical knowledge in the evaluation of the operation of a specific organization (system)
• selection and application of appropriate analytical tools and methods of analysis
• development and implementation of a specific project
• implementing change management principles

Competence

Competence in the areas included in the placement assignment, including:
• practical hand-on experience of preparing business research consultancy
• processing and analyzing information within the framework of his/her competence and company’s needs (analysis, summaries, reports, memos, articles, leaflets, notes, etc.)
