Objective

Get acquainted with the importance of physical activity in reducing the risk of many diseases, physical health and strengthening of primary and secondary prevention of diseases, the body's functional capacity improvement to chronic diseases and cause functional impairment, as well as improving quality of life.

Prerequisites

Psychology, health sports foundation, physiology.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

After the sucessful course completion, students will be able to:
- Name and describe the most frequently occurring disease risk factors,
- Recognize / classify the disease symptoms,
- Tell how to reduce modifiable risk factors for heart disease,
- Name and describe the recommended physical activity in disease prevention,
- Explain load dosing principles, depending on the capability,
- To justify the use of physical exercise to health problems.

Skills

After the sucessful course completion, students will be able to:
- Assess customer health and functional status,
- To draw up a program of exercises and to choose and adequate physical activity for people with health problems,
- To assess heart disease risk factors,
- To determine body mass index,
- Measure lung function tests: vital capacity, chest tours, respiratory type,
- To determine the load carrying capacity of a 6-minute walk test,
- Calculate clients pulse using the Karvonen formula,
- To analyze the regeneration reaction after the load,
- Advise clients physical activity in improving health.

Competence

Acquired skills and competencies will orient disease-causing risk factors, analyze risk factors on health, and knowledge of the most common diseases, respect the principles of training and applying disease prevention and educating people about the importance of physical activity in health promotion.
