From 19 to 21 June the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Medical Education Technology Centre and Department of Clinical Skills and Medical Technologies, in collaboration with the RSU Faculty of Continuing Education organised its first summer school on emergency medicine and traumatology. The summer school consisted of lectures and workshops held by specialists from Inselspital University Hospital of Bern, Department of Emergency Medicine and medical simulation instructors Monika Brodmann Maeder, Susanne Nüesch, and Susanne Eichenberger, Māris Bartkēvičs (Interlaken, Switzerland) and RSU academics from the Department of Clinical Skills and Medical Technologies.

The summer school was opened by guest lectures on emergency medicine and trauma assessment by Monika Brodmann Maeder and Susanne Nüesch from University of Bern Department of Emergency Medicine.

During the practical classes held at the RSU Medical Education Technology Centre, RSU lecturers acquired simulation-based skills in initial trauma assessment.

Future cooperation with the RSU Medical Education Technology Centre in the area of simulation-based learning, research and science was also discussed during the summer school.
