Crisis

In order to reduce the health risk to Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) students, staff and visitors, as well as the risk to the continuity of studies, research and scientific activity at RSU, additional safety measures have been implemented from 18 December. The new measures are based on the additional restrictions set by the Cabinet of Ministers on 17 December.

The study process at RSU will take place remotely until 30 January 2021. Only clinical residencies are allowed to take place on site, albeit observing all epidemiological safety requirements of the medical institution in question. The RSU Library will also be closed for the duration of this period.

Heads of study programmes are obliged to ensure that all epidemiological safety measures and instructions by third parties (medical institutions, clinical base units, placement locations, places of practice, etc.) are strictly followed when carrying out RSU studies at these institutions.

The aforementioned time period may come to be amended by a special Rector’s decree in conformity with the current trends in the spread of Covid-19 infection and other regulatory enactments.

On 17 December, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia adopted stricter restrictions that will last until 11 January 2021. As a result, a number of significant new restrictions have come into force.
