Crisis

In order to reduce health risks to Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) students, staff and visitors, as well as the risk to the continuity of studies, research and scientific activity at RSU, studies will be organised remotely until the end of the autumn semester of the academic year 2020/2021 (including the examination period) - 30 January 2021.

For the period of 23 November 2020 to 30 January 2021, the study process will take place remotely, with the following exceptions:

  • Rotation placements for 6th-year students in the Medicine study programme continue without changes (including on-site placements) in accordance with the schedules that have been developed and agreed upon with the medical institutions;
  • The study process in the Dentistry study programme is carried out using a blended approach, i.e. combining remote and in person learning in compliance with the epidemiological safety requirements at medical institutions;
  • Heads of the study programmes within the health studies direction in cooperation with Heads of academic departments, shall provide an opportunity for students to work independently at RSU Institute of Anatomy and Anthropology and Medical Education Technology Centre, carrying out their independent work following the principle of prior individual appointment.

Heads of study programmes are obliged to ensure that all epidemiological safety measures and instructions by third parties (medical institutions, clinical base units, placement locations, places of practice, etc.) are strictly followed when carrying out RSU studies at these institutions.

The aforementioned time period may come to be amended by a special Rector’s decree in conformity with the current trends in the spread of Covid-19 infection and other regulatory enactments.

Rector's decree on further organisation of the study process under conditions of the spread of COVID-19 infection (20 November 2020)

All RSU students are invited to follow further information, including RSU Rector's decrees regarding the organisation of the study process and restrictions during the coronavirus epidemic.

Note that from 9 November 2020 to 6 December 2020, a state of emergency has been declared throughout the territory of Latvia, providing for strict epidemiological safety measures. On Friday, 20 November, amendments to the Law on the Management of the Spread of Covid-19 Infection come into force, stipulating that failure to use masks in public places will be punishable by a fine of up to 50 euros.
