On 19 May in a solemn award-giving ceremony, the Teodors Reiters Music Award was presented to the conductors of RSU mixed choir “Riga” - Zane Zilberte and Evita Taranda - for outstanding achievements in choral music in Latvia and abroad. A letter of recognition from the Teodors Reiters Foundation was also awarded to choirmaster Uģis Meņģelis for professional work.

At a festive concert marking the occasion in the Riga Latvian Society Golden Hall, performances congratulating the conductors of mixed choir “Riga” were given by many talented musicians, among them holders of T. Reiters award.  The audience enjoyed performances of compositions by F. Liszt, F. Chopin, C. Debussy, E. Dārziņš and works of other composers performed by pianists Ričards Marčenoks and Noemi Feia Deifta, clarinetist Artūrs Pertas, violinists Taīse Ticiana Geitus-Eitvina, Rūdolfs Miķelsons and Daniils Bulajevs, saxophonist Patrīcija Bloma, violincellist Vladislavs Gluščenko, French horn player Māra Evelonas, marimba player Alise Sējāne and vocalists Daniila Kuzmina, Thira Tolordavs and Anta Jankovska.

Winner of several International Grand Prix for choral singing, RSU mixed choir “Riga” conducted by holders of the Teodors Reiters Music Award performed their concert programme consisting of pieces from the XXVI Song and Dance Festival repertoire and a number of compositions by Lūcija Garūta, Pēteris Butāns, Imants Kalniņš and  Raimonds Pauls. The choral singing was accompanied by concertmaster, professor Ventis Zilberts.

The Teodors Reiters Music Award-giving ceremony was dedicated to Latvia’s Centenary, honouring the memory of Teodors Reiters and to congratulate the Teodors Reiters Foundation on its 20th anniversary.
