The Young Public Health Specialist Academy

The Young Public Health Specialist Academy is an educational initiative for secondary school students who are interested in public health, health policy, preventive measures, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. During the classes to take place on 12 March, participants will learn about current public health topics, analyse real-life examples, and engage in discussions with industry experts. The programme offers an opportunity to better understand the role of a public health specialist and the content of studies at RSU, while developing critical thinking and analytical skills.

Registration for the Young Public Health Specialists Academy will open on 24 February at 15:00, and the classes will be held on 12 March from 10:00 to 16:00. The number of places is limited.

Preparatory courses at the RSU Faculty of Social Sciences

The RSU Faculty of Social Sciences offers preparatory courses for applicants who are planning to study law, international relations, communication, psychology, and other social sciences programmes.

The Young Diplomats League invites prospective students to learn about international politics, explore security and foreign policy challenges, analyse the impact and role of different countries in political processes, develop analytical thinking and argumentation skills, and participate in simulation of diplomatic negotiations.

The Law Academy will provide an opportunity to explore different areas of law and understand how laws regulate modern challenges. Programme participants will learn about various fields of law; find out how the law regulates artificial intelligence and data protection; visit a forensic laboratory, and work with practical examples.

Meanwhile, at the School for Future Communicators and Journalists, participants will learn about the world of journalism, public relations and multimedia together with industry professionals such as Dita Rietuma, Dite Liepa, Anna Peipiņa, Marta Herca, Alnis Stakle, and others. Practical simulations will give the chance to try out the daily routine of a communicator and a journalist and  find the most suitable study programme: Journalism, Public Relations, or Multimedia Communication.

For students interested in management and entrepreneurship, RSU offers creative workshops in business and marketing. These workshops provide opportunities to learn business planning, idea presentation, risk management, and other aspects of entrepreneurship. The workshops help prepare for studies in International Business and Start-up Entrepreneurship, International Business and Sustainable Economy, and International Marketing and Advertising programmes. The classes will be led by lecturers Anželika Berķe-Berga, Kristīne Blumfelde-Rutka, Romāns Putāns, and other industry specialists.

The aim of the courses is to systematically deepen knowledge and prepare for entrance examinations and the study process. The classes are led by experienced lecturers, providing both theoretical foundation and practical tasks.

Registration for the RSU Faculty of Social Sciences courses is open until 23 February, and the classes will be held on Saturdays from 28 February to 28 March.

RSU preparatory programmes provide not only knowledge, but also an opportunity to get acquainted with the university’s study environment, learning approach, and academic requirements. This helps young people make an informed decision about their choice and start their studies at the university with more confidence.
