The annual meeting of the foundation Doctors SafeTrain – a joint medical training and research centre of Rīga Stradiņš University and Latvian University of Agriculture was held on 29 March at RSU. The board of directors of the foundation informed the rectors and authorised representatives, i.e., members of the supervisory board of both universities on the previous year’s accomplishments and plans for the future.

The training centre Doctors SafeTrain was founded four years ago with the aim of running practical courses for medical and veterinary professionals through the application of the latest medical technologies and methods under conditions that simulate real life.

Since its inception, Doctors SafeTrain has organised a total of 48 training sessions, mostly in interventional radiology, conventional /laparoscopic surgery and paediatric surgery.

The courses organised by the foundation have been attended by over 500 practitioners not only from the Baltic region, but also from Germany, Sweden, Russia, Italy, Romania, France, Austria, Great Britain, Egypt, etc.

In addition to local experts, the centre also frequently engages foreign experts from the United States, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and other countries.

In the future it is planned to set up a subsidiary of the centre in Germany.
