This week, volleyball takes centre stage at the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) sports arena, as the RSU women’s volleyball team have been crowned Latvian champions, concluding the season with an impressive record: championship gold, victory in the Latvian Cup, and bronze in the Baltic League. Meanwhile, last week the Robežsardze/RSU men’s volleyball team secured the championship title, delivering a double triumph for RSU teams in Latvian volleyball.

Uncontested champions

The RSU women’s volleyball team demonstrated clear dominance in the final series against Mārupe SC – three matches, three wins, and a third consecutive championship title.

In the decisive match at the Rimi Olympic Centre, they secured a 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-21, 25-19), controlling the pace of the game from the first point to the last.

Elvita Dolotova was named the championship’s most valuable player; she skilfully led the team throughout the season and served as its cornerstone.

After the victory, head coach Inguna Minusa emphasised the team’s unity and determination:

‘I believed in my players, regardless of the line-up on the court. They were all ready to help the team win.’

The team’s overall performance this season has also been impressive: they won gold in the Latvian Championship and the Latvian Cup, as well as bronze in the Baltic League, demonstrating the RSU team’s ability to compete at a high level even beyond Latvia.

As previously reported, the Robežsardze/RSU men’s volleyball team also triumphed in the Latvian Championship last week. Thus, the 2025–2026 season has been a golden one for RSU volleyball, with championship titles and trophies in both the women’s and men’s competitions going to RSU teams.
