On 31 January and 1 February, the BaltCityPrevention project seminar and meeting, gathering project partners from Latvia were held at Liepāja City Council and the Liepāja Business Incubator. The project is funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme of the European Union. The BaltCityPrevention project aims to improve the capacity of public health institution employees, develop and implement interventions that are cost-effective and tailored to changes in user health behaviour. Efficient health prevention interventions to limit the spread of chronic non-infectious diseases poses a great challenge to all member states and organisations engaged in the project, among them Liepāja City Municipality, SIA Telemedica and Rīga Stradiņš University.

During the meeting, representatives from Liepāja City Council presented the Latvian pilot project implementation plan with overweight youth as the target users. Intervention activities will be oriented towards the promotion of active lifestyle and healthy eating habits. The project will involve the use of e-tools and personal communication with youths. On 26 and 27 April, a BaltCityPrevention project international partner meeting will be held in Liepāja. For the meeting agenda to be more productive, the organisers have involved a Latvian business incubator and will organise a hackathon to create new solutions to problems that had been identified.
