Interest in Studying at RSU Keeps Growing

The summer admissions period for undergraduate and master's programmes in Latvian at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) has successfully come to an end. RSU has received a total of 7,973 applications, which is an increase of several percentage points compared to last year.

As usual, the Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Nutrition programmes are among the most popular, however, this year applicants showed great interest in social sciences programmes too, such as Multimedia Communication, and Psychology. The rapid growth of interest in these programmes can be explained by the fact that the government has allocated funding for study places in social sciences study programmes at RSU for the first time this year.

As in previous years, Medicine is the most popular study programme (1,297 applications), followed by Nursing (555), Physiotherapy (569), Nutrition (466), Pharmacy (284), and Dentistry (249). 

Thanks to government funding for study places this year, the Multimedia Communication (511) and Psychology (440) programmes at the Faculty of Communication have also experienced a marked increase in the number of applications. The same can be said of the Law programme (289) implemented by the Faculty of Law, the International Business and Start-up Entrepreneurship (241) offered in English by the Faculty of European Studies, and International Marketing and Advertising (228).

Meanwhile, Art Therapy, Law, Health Management, Public Health, Rehabilitation and Communication, and Media Studies are among the most popular master’s programmes. Admissions to several master's programmes are still open.

Simultaneously, admissions to doctoral and residency programmes are also taking place at RSU. The summer admission period for international students is also still open and will end in mid-August. This summer, RSU is planning to admit more than 400 international students.
